How to Upload a Custom World to Your Minecraft Server

Do you want to continue playing in an existing Minecraft world or play a world you downloaded from the internet with others? Through the game panel, you can upload the world and set it as the active world on your Minecraft server.

Note Preferably use the same or a newer Minecraft version than the version used to create the world. A world that has been opened in a newer Minecraft version usually cannot safely be used with an older version. Does the world contain mods or custom blocks and items? Make sure you also install the required mod loader and mods.

Preparing the Downloaded World

1. Extract the downloaded archive on your computer.
2. Check how many world folders the download contains:

• One world folder: The level.dat file must be located directly inside this folder. The folder usually also contains a folder named region. In this case, the Nether and End are generally already stored within the same world folder.
• Three world folders: The download contains separate folders for the Overworld, Nether and End.

3. Rename the folder containing the Overworld to world.
4. Do you have three world folders? Rename the other two folders as well:

• Rename the Nether folder to world_nether.
• Rename the End folder to world_the_end.

5. Compress the world folder or folders into a single ZIP file, such as world.zip.

Note After extracting the ZIP file, the world folders must be directly visible. You should see either only the world folder or the three folders world, world_nether and world_the_end. The world folders must not be placed together inside an additional parent folder.

Uploading the Downloaded World

1. Log in to the game panel and go to your Minecraft server.
2. Stop the Minecraft server if it is still running.
3. Open the Backups page and create a full backup. This allows you to restore the old world if you need it again later.
4. Open the Files page.
5. Click the three dots next to the existing world folder and select Delete.
6. Are there also existing folders named world_nether and world_the_end? Delete these as well. This ensures that you replace not only the Overworld, but also its associated Nether and End.
7. Click Upload, select Upload Files and upload the ZIP file containing the new world.
8. Click the three dots next to the ZIP file and select Unarchive.
9. Check that the world folder is located directly in the root directory of the Minecraft server. Did you prepare three world folders? Check that world_nether and world_the_end are also located here.
10. Open the world folder and check that the level.dat file is located directly inside it.
11. Delete the ZIP file to free up storage space.
12. Start the Minecraft server using the green start button.
13. Join the server and check that the Overworld, Nether and End have loaded correctly.
