How to Install Fabric on Your Minecraft Server

Published on July 18, 2026

Fabric is a lightweight mod loader that allows you to use mods on your Minecraft server. This makes it possible to add new features and enhance your Minecraft experience. At ConsulHosting, you can install Fabric directly through the game panel. You can also install Fabric manually on your Minecraft server at ConsulHosting.

Installing Fabric Easily

  1. Log in to the game panel and go to your Minecraft server.
  2. Stop the Minecraft server if it is still running.
  3. Open the Software page under Management.
  4. Click Fabric under the recommended software.
  5. Select the Minecraft version you want to use.
  6. Select the required Fabric Loader version. The latest available version is selected by default.
Tip Check which Minecraft version and Fabric Loader version are supported by your mods or modpack before continuing. Some mods require a specific or newer Fabric Loader version.
Note Only enable Wipe Server Files if you want to perform a completely fresh installation and all existing server files may be removed. These files cannot be restored without a backup.
  1. Enable Accept EULA.
  2. Click the Install button and wait until the installation has been completed.
  3. Finally, start the Minecraft server using the green start button to complete the installation.
Tip Is your Minecraft server not starting? Check whether the server is using the correct Java version.
Tip Has Fabric started successfully? You can install mods through the Mods page or manually upload them to the mods folder. See our guide on installing mods for detailed instructions.
Note Many Fabric mods also require Fabric API. Install a Fabric API version that supports the same Minecraft and Fabric Loader versions. You should also check each mod’s download page to determine whether it must be installed only on the server or by every player as well.

Installing Fabric Manually

Would you like to use a specific combination of Minecraft, Fabric Loader and Fabric Installer versions? You can download a server file from the official Fabric website and install it through the game panel yourself.

Downloading Fabric

  1. Open the official Fabric server download page.
  2. Under Minecraft Version, select the Minecraft version you want to use.
  3. Select the required Loader Version and Installer Version. If you are unsure, use the versions selected by default.
  4. Download the server file with the .jar file extension.

Uploading and Installing Fabric

  1. Log in to the game panel and go to your Minecraft server.
  2. Stop the Minecraft server if it is still running.
  3. Back up your world, mods, configuration files and any other files you want to keep.
  4. Open the Files page.
  5. Select all existing server files and click Delete to begin with a clean installation.
  6. Click Upload, select Upload Files and upload the .jar file you downloaded earlier.
  7. Click the three dots next to the uploaded file and select Rename.
  8. Rename the file to server.jar.
  9. Start the Minecraft server using the green start button.

During the first startup, the server may stop because the Minecraft EULA has not yet been accepted. Accept the EULA when prompted by the game panel, then start the server again.

Tip Is the Minecraft server not starting? Check the console for error messages. Also make sure the server is using the correct Java version under Settings and that SERVER JAR FILE is set to server.jar.
