How Does Billing and Invoicing Work at ConsulHosting?

Every company structures its billing system differently. As a result, policies regarding automatic renewals, invoices, payment reminders, and overdue payments may vary. How do I renew my service, and does this happen automatically?

Services at ConsulHosting are subscription-based. This means that your service is renewed automatically and renewal invoices continue to be generated until you cancel the service.

Domain names are an exception. If automatic renewal is enabled, the domain name will be renewed automatically in the same way. If automatic renewal is disabled, the domain name will not be renewed and no renewal invoice will be generated.

When will I receive a renewal invoice?

A renewal invoice is generated automatically fourteen days before the service’s expiration date.

When and how often will I receive payment reminders?

You will receive the following messages before an invoice’s due date:

1. 14 days before the due date: the invoice is generated.
2. 7 days before the due date: you receive a payment reminder.
3. 3 days before the due date: you receive a payment reminder.

If the invoice remains unpaid after its due date, you will receive additional payment reminders at the following times:

1. 1 day after the due date
2. 5 days after the due date
3. 10 days after the due date

If automatic renewal is disabled for a domain name, you will receive the following renewal reminders before its expiration date:

1. 30 days before the expiration date: you receive a reminder to renew the domain name.
2. 14 days before the expiration date: you receive a reminder to renew the domain name.
3. 7 days before the expiration date: you receive a reminder to renew the domain name.
4. 3 days before the expiration date: you receive a reminder to renew the domain name.

What happens if I pay an invoice late?

If an invoice is not paid on time, the associated service will be suspended. You will receive an email as soon as this happens.

In the case of a domain name, the domain will enter quarantine. Reactivating a domain name from quarantine involves high additional costs.

You cannot use a service while it is suspended. The service and its associated data will only be retained during this period while awaiting reactivation. To reactivate a suspended service, you must pay the outstanding invoice. Additional fees apply when restoring a domain name from quarantine.

How long will a service remain suspended?

A service will generally remain suspended for thirty days before it is permanently terminated. You should therefore avoid waiting too long to pay an outstanding invoice.

An additional retention period applies to Minecraft server hosting. After the service has been terminated, we retain a copy of the Minecraft server for six months. This also applies if you cancel the service yourself. Please contact us to have this copy restored to a new Minecraft server hosting plan for a one-time fee of €25.00.

The quarantine period for a domain name varies by extension. A .com domain name generally has a thirty-day quarantine period, while a .nl domain name generally has a forty-day quarantine period.
